Officer programs applicants must be citizens of the United States. Dual citizens are eligible to apply, but the must submit proof of renouncing second citizenship prior to final selection.
Types of body markings/art on any individual that will prohibit said individual from serving in the United States Navy are markings that are in direct conflict with the Navy’s high standards and conservative approach to personal appearance, are inappropriate by location, intent, content, or that are considered prejudicial to good order, discipline, and morale, or are of a nature to bring discredit to the Navy. Each applicant will be evaluated with regard to tattoos and/or body art when determining commissioning eligibility.
Certain medical conditions may be disqualifying; check with your recruiter if you believe you may have a condition that will make you ineligible. Prior to final selection each applicant will have to pass a medical screening given by the Navy.
Each program has slightly different eligibility requirements; the following qualification requirements should only be used as a general guide to determining eligibility. Check with your recruiter to ascertain specific requirements.
Education: Enrolled in a 4-year college with at least 30 semester or 45 quarter hours. Minimum 2.7 GPA
Age: Minimum 18. The maximum age will not exceed age limit for designator in which the applicant is accepted.

Education: 120 semester hours for undergraduate degree, plus Master of Divinity from an accredited school
Age: Applicants must be able to complete 20 years active service by age 60. Age waivers will be granted based on the needs of the Navy.
Professional: Certificate of Ordination and Ecclesiastical Endorsement required. Peer recommendations required.
Education: BA/BS/MS in any major, either completed or within 30 months (12 months MS) of graduation. Technical majors (math, physics, engineering, and chemistry) preferred.

Professional: RN license (may apply 6 months prior to graduation; must complete NCLEX prior to commissioning).
Education: Graduate of a dental school in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico accredited by the ADA Council on Dental Education
Age: Must be able to commission by age 42 and/or be able to complete 20 years active commissioned service by age 62. Waivers routinely approved on a case-by-case basis.
Professional: At least 6 months since graduation, must be licensed. New grads have 1 year to obtain license.
Education: Minimum degree required varies by specialty. The only subspecialties not requiring a Master’s or Ph.D. are EHO, dietetics, industrial hygiene, medical technology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, PA, and radiation health.
Age: Maximum age of 42 or complete 20 years of active commissioned service by age 62.
Professional: License and/or special certification for some programs. Certification and/or current license required for dietetics, medical technology, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, PA, social work, clinical psychology, audiology, and podiatry.
