Male Body Fat Standards:
Age 17-39: Max of 22% body fat
Age 40 & over: Max of 23% body fat

Female Body Fat Standards:
Age 17-39: Max of 33% body fat
Age 40 & over: Max of 34% body fat

Citizenship

Officer programs applicants must be citizens of the United States.  Dual citizens are eligible to apply, but the must submit proof of renouncing second citizenship prior to final selection.

Body Art and Ornamentation

Types of body markings/art on any individual that will prohibit said individual from serving in the United States Navy are markings that are in direct conflict with the Navy’s high standards and conservative approach to personal appearance, are inappropriate by location, intent, content, or that are considered prejudicial to good order, discipline, and morale, or are of a nature to bring discredit to the Navy.  Each applicant will be evaluated with regard to tattoos and/or body art when determining commissioning eligibility.

Medical

Certain medical conditions may be disqualifying; check with your recruiter if you believe you may have a condition that will make you ineligible.  Prior to final selection each applicant will have to pass a medical screening given by the Navy.


General Officer Programs

Each program has slightly different eligibility requirements; the following qualification requirements should only be used as a general guide to determining eligibility.  Check with your recruiter to ascertain specific requirements.

BDCP

Education: Enrolled in a 4-year college with at least 30 semester or 45 quarter hours.  Minimum 2.7 GPA
Age: Minimum 18.  The maximum age will not exceed age limit for designator in which the applicant is accepted.
Test: OAR-35
PRT Good-Low
Others as required by program designator

Line Officer Programs

Education: BA/BS from an accredited 4-year college
Age: Minimum 19.  Maximum age depends on specific designator.

JAG Corps Direct Accession

Education: Graduate of ABA accredited law school
Age: 21-42 (if applicant older than 42, must be able to complete 20 years active service by 62nd birthday)
Professional: Passed Bar Exam in one of the 50 states
Test: LSAT

Chaplain

Education: 120 semester hours for undergraduate degree, plus Master of Divinity from an accredited school
Age: Applicants must be able to complete 20 years active service by age 60.  Age waivers will be granted based on the needs of the Navy.
Professional: Certificate of Ordination and Ecclesiastical Endorsement required.  Peer recommendations required.


Nuclear Officer Programs

NUPOC Sub/Surface

Education: BA/BS/MS in any major, either completed or within 30 months (12 months MS) of graduation.  Technical majors (math, physics, engineering, and chemistry) preferred.
Minimum grade of “C” for 1 year of calculus and 1 year of calculus-based physics (both required courses)
Minimum GPA of 2.5
Age: 19-29 at time of commission.  Waiverable to 31.
Test: PRT Good-Low

Naval Reactors Engineer

Education: BA/BS/MS either completed or within 30 months (12 months MS) of graduation in math, physics, engineering, or chemistry.
Minimum grade of “B” for 1 year of calculus and 1 year of calculus-based physics (both required courses)
Minimum grade of “B” for all technical courses
Minimum GPA of 2.5 (3.3+ competitive)
Age: 19-29 at time of commission.  Waiverable to 35.

Nuclear Power School Instructor

Education: BA/BS/MS either completed or within 30 months (12 months MS) of graduation in math, physics, engineering, or chemistry.
Minimum grade of “B” for 1 year of calculus and 1 year of calculus-based physics (both required courses)
Minimum grade of “B” for all technical courses

Education: Graduate of AOA- or AMA-approved medical school in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico
Age: Complete 20 years active service by 68.  Waivers routinely approved on a case-by-case basis.
Professional: MD or DO degree PGY-1 done and state license.
GME in US AMA or AOA approved.
Foreign medical school graduates may be authorized; contact your recruiter.

Nurse Corps

Education: BSN or advanced nursing degree from NLNAC or CCNE accredited school.
Age: Complete 20 years active commissioned service by age 62.  Age waivers may be granted.
Professional: RN license (may apply 6 months prior to graduation; must complete NCLEX prior to commissioning).

Dental Corps

Education: Graduate of a dental school in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico accredited by the ADA Council on Dental Education
Age: Must be able to commission by age 42 and/or be able to complete 20 years active commissioned service by age 62.  Waivers routinely approved on a case-by-case basis.
Professional: At least 6 months since graduation, must be licensed.  New grads have 1 year to obtain license.

Medical Service Corps

Education: Minimum degree required varies by specialty.  The only subspecialties not requiring a Master’s or Ph.D. are EHO, dietetics, industrial hygiene, medical technology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, PA, and radiation health.
Age: Maximum age of 42 or complete 20 years of active commissioned service by age 62.
Professional: License and/or special certification for some programs.  Certification and/or current license required for dietetics, medical technology, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, PA, social work, clinical psychology, audiology, and podiatry.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Age: Maximum age of 42 at time of commissioning, credit for prior military service usually given to age 50.
Medical Programs

Education: Graduate of AOA- or AMA-approved medical school in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico
Age: Complete 20 years commissioned service by 68.  Age waivers may be granted.
Professional: MD or DO degree PGY-1 done and state license.
